face painting

When church had their 'Spring Fair' Grandma gave the kids a couple of dollars each to spend on whatever they wanted. Mummy tried very hard to steer them away from all the garage sale toys with SUCCESS and led them to the play area where they all decided on getting their face painted.

Lucy - a very sparkly cat, BJ - spiderman,
Matt - spider on face and a fuzzy man on arm like a tattoo, Annie- a beautiful butterfly

funny faces

The kids had an absolute blast playing around with their new 'spy' disguises. Matthew loves being a spy so anything to do with disguises, secret codes, special alarms then that is right up his alley therefore, BJ, Annie and Lucy follow suit because whatever Matty is playing they are playing it too.

fathers day

We all love this time of year. The day we get to spoil Daddy and to say thanks for being the 'World's best Dad'. This year was no exception. It all started out with the usual present opening on the bed in which Daddy got so so many hand made gifts and the gifts the boys bought him at the school Fathers Day stall and a few bits and pieces that Mummy bought. That was closely followed by breakfast which was chicken BBQ plum kebabs at Daddy's request followed by church. Daddy had the option this year to spend the afternoon up the beach or go to sizzler for tea so Daddy opted for Sizzler which the kids were very excited by that idea.
We love you so much Daddy and we think you are the best Daddy in the whole wide world!

Dr. Benjamin Smith

It was dressed up day at Prep! The children have been learning about 'People Who Help Us' so some parents have been coming in and talking about their jobs and how it helps the community. A variety of people came to talk to the kids from pilots to mechanical engineers to taxi drivers to carpenters to nurses..... Benjamin really enjoyed learning about this topic so when it came to dress up day he knew exactly what he wanted to go as - a doctor! So out of the cupboard came Daddy's lab coat and tie and out of the toy room came the 'doctors bag' with all its goodies inside. Benjamin insisted on Mummy making him a special name tag "because all doctors have one Mum don't you know". Benjamin was so excited about this day that he woke up super early to get ready so he wouldn't be late for school (not that we ever have been but just in case today we might he said!)

not another one

When I picked the boys up from school Matty was complaining of some very sore fingers. He told me that he was pushed over at lunch time and landed on his two fingers and that he had had an ice pack on them for the rest of the afternoon. Tomas, Matt's friend, verified this story with compassion in his voice. When I looked at the fingers, Mummy's heart sank because you could hardly move them, they were completely covered in bruises and you would not let me touch them. We immediately went up to Dad so you could show him your fingers and he too thought you better go straight up to the hospital.
So off you went with Dad for another hospital visit. The nurses took you straight in as they also suspected what Mummy and Daddy thought and that was they were broken. The doctors ordered x-rays immediately so off you went knowing exactly what you were in for as this was definitely NOT your first time. Once the x-rays were back the doctors were very surprised that the fingers were not broken but that you had only badly bruised them and had ligament damage so they decided to put them in a splint for 4 days to help with the swelling and healing of the fingers. When you returned home Mummy was so pleased to hear the news as I did not need to have another child with something wrong with their hand!! You were also excited because the sore fingers were on your left hand so you were still able to write at school. (I think from your experience with your broken collar bone and not being able to write for weeks you were so relieved to know you didn't have to go through that again)

You were so glad when the four days were over and we could take off your splint, however they were still tender to touch and still covered in bruises. The bruises too several weeks to disappear and for you to get full movement back in to your fingers.

boxes

Which kid does not like playing in boxes???

Matty and BJ had an absolute ball playing, modelling and make believing in their boxes. Matt transformed his box into a secret spy hideout and BJ's became a submarine. Many hours and days of fun were had in there special places.
